ANCIENT CANOES FOUND IN FLORIDA

The Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research confirmed that the more then 85 canoes discovered in Newnan's Lake near GainesvilleFlorida range in age from 500 to 5000 years old. It is the greatest single discovery in North America of prehistoric Indian canoes. The canoes were made from logs,some pine, and were shaped by burning the middle and then scraping out the charcoal with sharp stones or shells.
